Never in our lives were we more concerned about our health. And that is, of course, thanks to the COVID-19. The virus is of course highly contagious and fatal but it has also raised our awareness of just how important it is to keep our immunity systems strong.

When it comes to the viruses, our best chance of survival is not about how much money we have, how powerful we are, or how influential we may be. The only thing that matters is our health.

If there’s one good thing that comes out as a result of the COVID-19, I would say it is the increased awareness of how our health affects not only us, but our relationships, our lifestyles, and our economy.

We live in the San Francisco Bay Area and probably one of the most famous landmarks that most visitors want to see is the Golden Gate Bridge.

It is a beautiful bridge and has lots of history. But it is also one of the busiest bridges in the States. So the one thing that you never want to do is to have your car stalled on that bridge, during rush hour traffic.

 

And that’s exactly what happened to my friend. He’s a young kid, driving his yellow Miata, crossing the bridge at 5pm in the afternoon. Everyone was eager to get home and so was he. Well, we are here! The end of a decade! This is our last blog of the decade, and since today is New Year’s Eve, we’ll keep this one light. Tomorrow is a brand new decade. How exciting is that!

 

For many of us, during the Christmas holidays is when we tend to be the most nostalgic. We’d bring up old photos, review old letters and journals, and talk about some of the more memorable moments of the past year and the past decade.

Welcome back to the Foolish Review. I am Andy, and I have just celebrated my 49th birthday last week and for many of us, birthday is the time to review how our last year went and really get in touch with our inner selves.

Hello. I am Andrew, This is my wife Minna, and we are the Foolish
Couple. Both of us have suffered through a variety of health issues, me
with my major accident that left me feeling like a 70 year old man, Minna
with her issues with eczema, allergies, and anemia.

Over the last two years, I lost my dad through Parkinson’s, my older brother had a few scares with diabetes and his kidney, and seeing my mother-in-law slowly

Who Do You Live For?

 

The last couple of years has been particularly hard on us.

My father passed away due to complications from his Parkinson’s disease, which is something he had been suffering for over 12 years.

Minna’s mother broke her hip and got a hip replacement a couple of years ago. But she never really fully recovered from the surgery. Every time we see her, she seemed to have deteriorated a little more.

My mother has osteoporosis of her knees and her knee pains are getting worse every year.

And what hurt me most this year was when I found out that my older brother, his name is Sam. Sam has been diagnosed with kidney failure and I have made multiple visits back home to support him, take him through his tests and diagnosis and trying to change his lifestyle and habits to reverse some of his symptoms of his diabetes, high blood pressure and lose some weight because all these chronic diseases ultimately led to his kidney problems.
