Cold Water Thermogenesis

Hi,

It's Andrew from the Foolish Couple.

As fall officially rowed in September 1st, most people close off their pools for next summer.

As you can see my pool is super clean and it’s this time of year that I actually do the most swimming when the water gets colder and colder.

A lot of you may not know, but I do have degenerative arthritis that is particularly bad in fall and winter as temperatures drop, and that is one of the reasons I refuse to travel back to Vancouver or any other place that is cold for that matter for the next few months.

And anyone with arthritis can tell you how their joints hurt more when it gets cold.

But there is a saying in Chinese, to use “poison to fight Poison” and that is what I do during fall and winter, and that is to swim in cold water to help with my arthritis.

Swimming in cold water or Cold Thermogenesis has the benefits to reduce inflammation and to  boost recovery. And oddly enough a long enough...

When Should You Start to Worry About Longevity?

Hi its Andrew from the Foolish Couple.

I get asked all the time, what is the best age to start worrying about my longevity.

Longevity refers to your physical health, mental health, energy, vibrancy and freedom of mobility.

This week we are sharing our 1-week liver cleanse for Clearer skin, leaner body and no cravings to friends and family. But the cleanse is so much more.

It’s the first step towards longevity and preventing Chronic illnesses.

Chronic illnesses are no longer an old person disease. It used to be that you don’t get Chronic conditions such as depression, psychotic conditions, hyperactivity, hypertension, high cholesterol, Crohn’s disease/ulcerative colitis and type II diabetes until you are older like 60 years and older.

However, that is no longer the case, millennials born between early 80’s to mid 90’s are besieged by chronic illness, with 54% of the generation's respondents reporting that they've been diagnosed...

The focus of our mini-blogs is on Time and Health, the 2 things that cannot be bought in life.

Imagine this. You are sick, and you are broke. The only free exercise you can get is to walk along the beach. You go to the beach and start walking. With your luck, high tide comes in and your feet get wet. But, wait, what’s that? Something shiny  washes up the beach and lands right at your feet.

You bend down and pick it up. It looks like an antique. Maybe it’s worth something, but it's so filthy that you rub it with your hand to get a better look. And “POOF”. A genie comes out.

But not the genie that you see in...

<Foco's 2-minute Blogs on Success>

We're pleased to be the recipient of the Best of Newark Award in the Nutrition and Success Coach category 4 years in a row.

To celebrate with our fans, we will be delivering more concise, mini-blogs every weekend that showcases our success blueprint.

To start off, here's a couple of questions for all of you:

Are you the type of person who would trade your Time for Money (in addition to your job, do you scrub your own toilets, wash your own laundry, mow your own lawn, and do other chores that you don't enjoy doing, because you'd rather do it yourself than pay someone to do the chores)?

Or are you the type of person who would trade Money for Time (hire people to cut your grass, wash your car, clean your house, answer customer service calls, etc) because you realize that your time is worth more than what you are paying for their services?

Which type of people do you think are more successful, wealthy, and healthy?

Which type of people...

The One Thing You are Missing in Life Part 3

Hello. My name is Minna from the Foolish Couple. Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve talked about why you suck at reaching your own goals. The fact that you get into your own way is the reason why you need a coach. Everyone needs a coach, if you want to succeed. Even coaches need coaches. And the best in the world, no matter what field they are in, they have the best coaches.

Having a coach that can work with you and that you are able to work with, will change your entire life. A good coach will sympathize with you, but will push you to your limit. They will change your perspective on how you perceive your problems and road blocks, and stimulate your creativity to get you out of your box and reach for your goal.

A good coach will support you and mentor you, but they will not baby you. That’s what your mom is for and that’s why never have your own mom as your coach. It won’t work. If you want to manifest your dreams, go get yourself a coach.

The One Thing You are Missing in Life Part 2

coach goals health success Mar 19, 2019

Hello. My name is Minna from the Foolish Couple. Last week, I talked about New Year’s resolution, and, more specifically, how we suck at meeting our goals. And that the reason behind us failing, is because we are our own worst enemy. And that’s why the one thing that most of us are missing is a coach.

We all have different goals, so we’d all need different coaches. There are coaches out there that is specific to a career, to a sport, to a skill, to your health, and then there are coaches that are more general in nature such as a life coach.

There are coaches that cost probably around $75 an hour and then there are coaches that cost $5 million a year!

You say, what? 5 million? Who would pay $5 million for a coach? Well, here’s the thing. Let’s say that you own this company, and your sales for the past few years has plateaued to, let’s just say 5 million. And with the help of this coach, you could bring your company’s sales up to...

Demystifying Fats Series - Day 6

Welcome back to ‘Demystifying fats and the Truth about Sugars’. So far, in our last 5 videos, we’ve talked about the history of how fats are demonized, and what are good fats and bad fats.

We’ve also talked about sugars, carbohydrates, and how they are sneaked into our foods without us knowing it. We’ve also talked about metabolic syndrome and how to check if you have metabolic syndrome or not, we have included the links below to our previous episodes so you can go back and watch it.

But before we wrap up this series on Demystifying Fats, let’s quickly introduce ourselves. We are the Foolish Couple. My name is Minna, and this is my husband Andy.

We made this video series because we are fed with so many lies. As children raised in Chinese households, our parents always taught us what we should and should not eat. What our parents thought were healthy for us, many of them were lies. Not...

Demystifying Fats Series - Day 4

We created this series called ‘Demystifying Fats’ because we grew up thinking that fats are fat. Fats makes us fat, and fat gives us high cholesterol, which leads to heart attacks.

But that’s not entirely true.

In this series, we’ll go deeper into the history of how this ‘belief’ about fats came from, and what is the real truth. We talk about how fats can heal our bodies and what we should eat that will not only improve our health, but eating the right kinds of fats can actually makes us leaner, gives us more energy and vitality, and keep us feeling younger and stronger.

In our first video, we talked about the history of how we came to believe that fats causes heart disease. And it was an eye opener for many of us.

In our second video, we’ve talked about the different types of fats. Some are good for you and but some of the most commonly used oils are slowly hurting our bodies...

Demystifying Fats and Truth About Sugars (Series) - 1 of 6

Hello. I am Andrew, This is my wife Minna, and we are the Foolish
Couple. Both of us have suffered through a variety of health issues, me
with my major accident that left me feeling like a 70 year old man, Minna
with her issues with eczema, allergies, and anemia.

Over the last two years, I lost my dad through Parkinson’s, my older brother had a few scares with diabetes and his kidney, and seeing my mother-in-law slowly
lose her memory through Alzheimer’s. I feel the pain when my family members are suffering from poor health. And many of you probably do too. Fact is, when you suffer from chronic pains and diseases, the people around you also suffers with you.

We want to help you alleviate some of this pain, so we came up with this
video series because we are fed with so many lies about what’s good for
our health. As children raised in Chinese households, our parents always
taught us what we should and should not eat. What our parents thought
were healthy for us,...

Are you Normal or Optimal?

average health normal optimal Dec 13, 2018

 Are you Normal?

Growing up, I was a major superhero fan. Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman. The list goes on. Yet what is one common theme amongst all superheroes?

Yes. That’s right. They are not ‘Normal’ people.

In fact, I would consider them as ‘Optimal’ beings. Some may argue that Superman and Wonder Woman are optimal because they have super powers. But Batman certainly did not have super powers yet he is still in optimal form and function. I’m referring to the comic version of Batman, of course. Definitely not the Ben Affleck version.

What is normal? Normal is average. Normal is boring. In today’s times, normal means you are overweight, bordering diabetic, sleep deprived, over stressed and under achieved.

How does the medical world rank people as normal or not?

First of all. There needs to be a mechanism to measure our metrics and gather the data. I suck at math but I do remember the standard deviation....
