So far this week we have been talking about a few myths on health. We’ve talked about how a 60 year old actually has the same capacity to build muscle mass as a 30 year old, but only if they have the same levels of nutrition and they do muscle building exercises.

Are YOU exercising and eating right for your Body Type?

We are in the full swing of summer, school is out and I am sure everyone is ready to hit the beach and the pool parties.

 You may be scrambling to lose a few pounds so that you can look good in your swimsuits, so you try a new fad diet, some “super food” or some crazy “sweat till you drop” kind of work out program.

 But are you eating or exercising for YOUR particular body type?

I am not talking the apple, pear, hourglass, rectangle or what other terms people came up with to describe different body shapes. I am talking about something more scientific.

What color is your health?

 

Welcome to Insights by the Foolish Couple. My name is Andrew, and I am one of the foolish couple.

 I love driving and I’ve been driving since I was 16 years old. I’ve driven in many different states and countries. Now while some of the local traffic rules may be different, one thing is universal across the board.

Traffic lights.

Almost all of them have Red, yellow, and green lights.

Green means go and red means stop.

What about the yellow light?

Well, generally, you are supposed to slow down and stop before the light turns red.

But, nowadays, I’ve noticed that a lot of people actually run the yellow light, sometimes they run right into a solid red light.

Now I don’t have to tell you how dangerous that is. I’ve known multiple friends and family, myself included that had car accidents because of people running red lights.

Too Busy to Eat Well? Here's how to fix a Broken Diet

This week, our discussions revolve around being busy and how busy professionals stay healthy.

 I often feel like I am the busiest person in the world. A full time gig during the day, 2 side businesses to run during night time and weekends, 3 cats that constantly make a mess at home. Between the work, side gigs, housework, how could there be time to eat healthy and exercise?

Yet there are people that can do it all. We all know that someone who seemed to be able to get it all done: Career on the rise. Finances strong, home is clean and in order, and healthy as a nut.

How do they do it? And, better yet, how can I do it myself?

If they can have it all, why can’t I? I don’t believe I’m genetically any different from them.

Health has nothing to do with money. You can be the richest person in the world yet still unhealthy. Money doesn’t fix your body. You cannot...

Science proves exercise alone won't help you lose much weight

We are at that time of year where everyone is busy making New Years’ resolution. Sometimes, it’s the same resolution as last year, and the year before … Year after year, we consume too much food and drinks over the holidays, and we want to shed those excess pounds we gained and get into shape.

But before you sign up for another gym membership promotion, hoping that this year you can lose weight and get in shape by working out regularly, let me ask you this:

How did that work out for you last year? Or the year before that? Do you think this year will be any different?

You may be very enthusiastic at first, going to the gym every day, taking as many fitness classes as you can, lifting weights, doing spin classes, kick boxing, etc…

 

Your enthusiasm may last about 30 days, maybe even up to 2 months. We notice this because, the parking lot at the gym is always full the first 2 months of the year. And then, it gets emptier and emptier.
