Hi everyone – I’m Sandra (and I’m Andy) and welcome to our third installment of our 4-part series of addressing What makes Us More Vulnerable to Illness. 

In the earlier parts of our series, we looked at the importance of food as well as our sleep, and how we can utilize specific practices to not only make us less vulnerable to illness, but to strengthen and heal our bodies so we can live longer and healthier lives. 

 

Today, we will examine our thoughts – looking at how ‘what we think’ impacts our bodies, and our health.

Stop Doing these 3 Things that is Hurting your Immune System

Over the last few months, our daily lives have changed drastically. The Shelter-in-Place order has kept us staying at home most of the time, and we are ordered not to go out unless we have to. We social distance, we wear masks, and we sanitize everything that we touched, we order take-out food and have groceries delivered to our homes. All of  these safety’ measures are supposed to protect us from catching the Coronavirus or if we do catch it, supposed to lessen the severity of the viral infection.

 

It’s been 6 months since the COVID pandemic, and for most of us, our lives have changed drastically. But has your life change for the better, or for the worse?

How Food became scientific

 


What is TACT?
 
Taste

Aroma

Color

Texture
 
These used to be the 4 standards of good food. That’s how my grandparents taught my parents, and how my parents taught me.
 
A simple plate of stir fried Chinese broccoli. The vegetables should have a nice green color. It should smell like freshly cut vegetables, have nice taut texture and not overcooked and it should taste, well, like vegetables.
 

But this is before food became scientific. The TACT standards are no longer enough to validate how good the food really is for you.
 
Nowadays, All fruits and vegetables are colorful. That’s because colors can be infused into our crops genetically. An apple looks more “red” than they should be and an orange is, well, more orange color.
 
With the latest scientific ‘break-through’, we can now grow apples that do not oxidize after you cut it. You know how usually after you cut an apple, their flesh turns brown? That is oxidation and it used...
