Are you confused about all the latest fad diets out there? For as long as I could remember, there was always some type of diet that was in fashion during the time, and then a few years later, someone says that diet was no good and there’s a better one. Some of the more popular ones were probably the Atkins diet, or in recent years, the Paleo diet and the ketogenic diet. And then of course, there are people that says the Paleo is not good for your health and that the Keto diet doesn’t work.
With all the new diets out there, how do you know what is healthy or safe to eat? Are you just going to blindly...
Nowadays, more and more people are looking for natural supplements such as Ayurvedic and herbal medicine from traditional Chinese medicine to lose weight, for adrenal support, performance enhancement, digestive health or just general health and well-being. But there is one common mistake that can pretty much overwrite any of the benefits of their supplementation.
And that mistake is people make the assumption that because the supplementation is supposedly ‘all natural’ and is not a prescription drug, that it is safe for them to use.
Just because something is ‘labeled’ as natural doesn’t necessarily mean that it is good for...
Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, we went to a secluded location about 3 hours from where we live, and there was 8 inches of snow on the ground. We had a blast, we played in the snow, built ugly snowmen, had snowball fights, tobogganing and made snow angels. We had a lot of fun, but at the end of the day, we were drenched in dirty snow and dirt and whatever else was outside.
So, what did we do? We took a shower, of course. And I’m pretty that’s what you would do too when you are dirty.
But what about inside your body? You may not see the dirt, but you probably feel it. You just didn’t know it. How do you know if your internal body is dirty? Lemme ask you this:
When you wake up in the...
[This is a follow-up to Part 1 of our blog series – The Matrix: Personal Development 101]
So, did you go back and watch Matrix part 1? If you were Neo, would you choose the blue pill or the red pill? Have you thought about what kind of ‘programming’ you’ve had in your mind that’s preventing you from moving on? Are they anchors that’s preventing you from moving forward, or are they engines that drives you towards your goal?
Awareness is the first step to personal development. Before you can develop, you must first know what areas you need to work on.
But, just in case that you are debating between the blue and red pill, I have one word for you: Entropy.
Entropy means a lack of...
One of my favorite movies of all time is the Matrix, Part 1. Not only because Keanu Reeves is in it. It is part of the reason, of course, but also because of the revolutionary idea of the story and the transformation of the hero in the story.
Every good story has these components. The hero, who is usually the main character, the problem, the guide, the love interest, the villain and the success. The hero was always pathetic when they started. Neo started off as a moonlighting hacker. But with the guide, Morpheus, who trained and led Neo through the transformation. The love from Trinity was boundless and always supportive. With the guide and love, Neo was able to morph into ‘The One’ and finally defeat...
Today, on Veterans Day, we honor the heroes who lost their lives during the first World War. In Canada, we actually call it Remembrance day.
HI I am Andrew from the Foolish Couple. In our blogs, we mostly guides you on the 3 things in life that you cannot buy, even if you have an unlimited supply of money. Those 3 things are health, love, and time.
Today, not only do we honor the fallen heroes of days past, but we should also honor our own fallen heroes. The hero who I’d like to honor today is my dad. Isn’t it funny that you don’t miss your heroes until they are gone?
It’s been over two years since he passed, and he is still teaching me things after he was gone.
I want to share with you something that my dad did religiously, every night, before going to bed, all the way until he wasn’t physically able to do it because of his advanced Parkinson’s.
Every night, just before going to bed, he...
Do you ever feel like your relationship is not going as strong as you want it to be?
I’m talking about your loving, intimate relationship with your partner.
"As we progress in life we typically see that our careers and finances tend to stabilize but the other parts of our lives may be falling apart."
And these parts of your life are usually your health situation, your loving relationship, and the fact that you are running out of time.
We are the Foolish Couple. I am Minna, and this is my husband Andy. In our blogs we mostly guides you on the 3 things in life that you cannot buy, even if you have an unlimited supply of money. And those 3 things, are health, love, and time.
We’ve been together for over 3 decades and over the last 30 years, we’ve had our ups and downs. But we have also figured out a lot about what keeps some couples together while others fall apart. So today, we are going to kick start a series on loving...
HI, I’m Andrew from the Foolish Couple.
In our blogs we typically talk about the things that money can’t buy, which are: Health, Time, and Love. Today, I want to talk about something that is affecting our health that you may not be aware of.
I am talking about the Known toxic chemicals in our food supply.
While many of you may be following the latest sports scores, Hollywood scandal or the political issues that are happening, did you catch the news that can affect your health and the health of your family? I bet you, most of you probably missed it. It was buried amongst all the glorious mumble jumble of politics, scandals and sports. But I read it, and I’m here to share my thoughts with you.
There were two very important reports that just came out last week. One was from EWG which stands for The Environmental Working Group. EWG released the latest results of their testing for potentially hazardous chemicals in our drinking water across the...
As fall comes along, we watch the leaves fall and the days get shorter, we are also heading towards Halloween. Every year, on October 31st, thrill seekers would make their way to haunted houses looking for spirits, ghosts, the supernatural, and whatever else you could think of.
Hi. I am Minna from the Foolish Couple. And in today’s episode, I’m going to talk about FEAR.
Halloween is really about being scared and facing your fear. So, what is fear? I think we all know what FEAR is, and we all have our own fears. But have you ever counted how many of your FEARS actually become real?
In other words, most of the fears come from our imaginations. What I’m saying is that FEAR, stands for Fantasized Events Appearing Real.
As humans we are fearful of different things. Andy is afraid of spiders because he watched the movie Arachnophobia and every time, he sees a spider, it reminds him of the movie.
I am afraid of snakes, even though I have...
It's Andrew from the Foolish Couple.
As fall officially rowed in September 1st, most people close off their pools for next summer.
As you can see my pool is super clean and it’s this time of year that I actually do the most swimming when the water gets colder and colder.
A lot of you may not know, but I do have degenerative arthritis that is particularly bad in fall and winter as temperatures drop, and that is one of the reasons I refuse to travel back to Vancouver or any other place that is cold for that matter for the next few months.
And anyone with arthritis can tell you how their joints hurt more when it gets cold.
Swimming in cold water or Cold Thermogenesis has the benefits to reduce inflammation and to boost recovery. And oddly enough a long enough...
